Can I kick it?

Yes you can!

Can I kick it?

Yes you can!

Sometimes I listen to A Tribe called Quest at the wee hours of lazy school day mornings to pump myself up. They wrote "Can I kick it " when they were 18 years old. Damn. And what did I do today?

I drove to school this morning, beating Pin in an imaginary carpool race in my head. Despite her being 10x slower than me, I always count these little victories. One cannot have too much of an ego-boost, I'd like to say.

Today was pretty normal. A lotta sleeping and attending classes that you'd wish ended the moment you came in. Got home and Jimmy and Ramon are practicing soccer downstairs during the eve of their quarterly exams, reminiscing what used to happen 8 years ago. I love their intensity.

Can I kick it?

Yes you can!

I remember the first time hearing this in the radio during one of those Friday Classic sessions. Away from the usual Madonna and Culture CLub replays, the DJ suddenly started ripping off early 90's rap songs one after another. Public enemy, Wu Tang Clan and then the young bucks known as A Tribe Called Quest.

Along with my foo fighters and the goo goo dolls, ATCQ immediately went into my first cd burn in the dark corners of a stall in BF Ruins. I felt gangsta when the dude burining my tunes started bopping his head as he sang along.

Can I kick it?

Yes you can!
