Now comes the reality of having to renew my license. It is a chore to say the least. The day off. Going to the LTO. Man, I wish that systematized automatic renewals would just appear now, amidst the continuing corruption that prohibits this type of development.
Damn corruption.
But, I had a fixer. This was when I first applied for my license. Our family driver, Joe, accompanied me because his job description is to basically have my back, and he did so by getting a fixer. During that time, there was this broken down manual jeep that every new applicant had to drive. Everyone, but me. Because I asked my fixer if it was okay that I used an automatic car. Perplexed by this request, the fixer approached Joe and they had sort of arrived at a mutual agreement.
Joe, then walked away and brought in the Mercedes E-240 that we had used to get to the LTO. About 500 people saw me awkwardly maneuver this machine back and forth, stop and go. It was painful. Talk about being discreet.
I then went to the examination room. There was a packet containing a questionnaire that I had to fill up. And by some wizardry, all the answers where already there.
So now as I return to the scene of this most obvious crime, I once again strive to find the shortcut in order to speed up this pending hassle. Any fixers out there?
