If there were ever two songs you needed to decide on something important, it would be "All I want is you" by U2 and "Walking after you" by the Foo Fighters.
I love the versatility of Dave Grohl. From the earlier days of Nirvana, he's now the lead guy of Foo Fighters, covering different fanbases from the sing-a-long classic "Learn to Fly", the emo fuck anthem "Everlong" and the chill acoustic version of "Big Me". Die hard fans will lament my choice of songs. Get a life, fuckers.
But my personal favorite is "Walking after You". My homie, Dave, decided to come up with a goddamn love song. And it's goddamn perfect. People talk about the highs and lows of love, but after all that will happen (abuse, betrayal, infidelity), to still walk after that person and want her back? It's devotion bordering on psychotic infatuation, but devotion nonetheless.
But even with "Walking after you"'s inspiring message. It is incomplete. As said, we do not know if this is puppy blindness, true love or just psychotic infatuation. That's where U2's "All I want is you" comes in. I cannot do justice to how convincing and outright smooth Bono takes on the verses. But i'll just write, one of them here.
"You say you'll give me a highway with no one on it. Treasure just to look upon it. All the riches in the night"
"But all the promises we make, from the cradle to the grave, when all I want is you."
Damn. This isn't a boyband song where we fall in love at the first woman we see. Backstreet boys be damned. This is everything. Everything you could have in life put in front of your face and then you shrug those away and just say "All I want is you".
We're in college now. I know there's a future ahead, but it's hard to predict seeing as how we're making this shit as we're going along. Now is the era between boybands and grunge rock, talking about chance-upon meetings and magic in the moment. I don't think anyone here, but very few select, is in the position yet to decline the life that they have not yet experienced.
I love the emo fuck music that I'm listening to now. All momentary. All about this point in time. Just meeting a girl, who will change your life forever. The giggles. The attempts. The fact that she stole your heart. The fact that she broke your heart. The fact that you didn't even try.
But there's a life out there that we don't know of yet. Listen to the two songs I mentioned. Live your life. Then choose.
If they don't help, they're so damn good, that it wouldn't even be a waste of time.
