GEEK OUT!: Watchmen

So here's my question in regards to Watchmen. If Rorschach's death was to ultimately preserve the unity between warring countries against Dr. Manhattan, what was wrong with having another alternative? If Rorschach did go to the authorities and tell the world that it was all Ozymandias, wouldn't he (instead of Dr. Manhattan) be the target of everyone's hate and fear?

Rorschach didn't have to die. But then again, it's a darn good thing that he's fictional. Imagine bumping that fucker while walking in the street...
