2007

We visited my grandparents' house during the Christmas break. It's disheartening seeing how age and attrition have caught up with us, and our loved ones.

Whenever I go back to Iloilo, there's the usual first few days in the province before you get bored. There's no TV. We weren't going to Isla. I believe the internet still dials up. And there's absolutely nothing to do but karaoke. Unfortunately, my voice is somewhat deep and annoying at the same time, which severely limits the options I have in song choosing. I have about 12 songs in my repertoire which don't make me look like an absolute moron. By my calculations, that's about 2 days, or max 3 if I'm lucky.

So it was welcoming that my cousins, locals in this province, decided to go out and enjoy the city nightlife, again. Like last time. But, more of us were men this time around.

To be honest, yes, I was happy to be able to pick up a girl (or two) during the evening. But more than that, I was able to do it in front of my cousins. Damn right. I had no future with these women, but the true glory came from doing it in front of the fam. The cherry on top was that once the dancing and mingling was done, and we were settled down, one approached me and returned with a goodbye peck. That's how its done.

I never brag about this shit, but I'm just in awe of how cool I looked in front of them. So cool in fact that they started showing me their black books of all their ladies. I know for a fact that that was 100% fake. No way they got on with these women, but what did I care. They were bragging to me. The newest ladies man in town.

We went to Davao the next day, and this trip ended up being pretty dope. All in all it was seeing the old grans, an exploding gift, a shitload of food, horny 25 year-old cousins and a viral infection that ruined two days of our vacation.

What a great few days, though. I'll be seeing Manila soon.
